Betty, I hope you know what you're doing.

Betty White is, obviously, a hot ticket. It appears she is more in demand now than ever before. Which may or may not be true, given the way word spreads nowadays and such. But there’s no doubting her popularity today and I am certainly one of many to enjoy seeing her getting so much attention.

But…there’s always one of those….The Island has looked into its crystal ball and has seen Betty White’s current popularity crashing so hard it will make Colin Farrell’s collapse look like kitten’s play.

But I'm supposed to be lucky.

Betty White appeared in a commerial during this past Super Bowl and since then it’s everything Betty. A Facebook page started campaigning for her to appear on Saturday Night Live, which she will May 8th. And now, according to the New York Times, she has just signed on to a new sitcom on TV Land titled “Hot in Cleveland”.

Betty, I love you but watch yourself. I hope you succeed but from what I have heard, Hollywood will bring you in, chew you up and then spit you out. And when you’re 80-something years old, that kind of landing can’t be easy. I’m fearful that Betty White, one of the Golden Girls no less, is not going to be treated well by the press until something starts to crack: the SNL writing, the pilot episode of HiC, or, heaven forbid, the hiatus you may need to take. I’m cheering for you, I really am. But The Island has been known to predict a few things–J. Lo’s comeback is still in the works but it’s coming and Guttenberg is ripe for a comeback just like we called it—but we really hope we’re wrong.

So Betty, good luck! I hope you’re around for much, much longer.

Oh, and if you haven’t seen her roast of William Shatner on Comedy Central, check it out.

Dirty bird…
