Golden Girl Island: Herbie the Elm

Today is a sad day with the news that Herbie, a 240-year-old elm in Yarmouth, Maine, will be cut down later this month. It isn’t often that we hear about tree’s that were around in the late 1700’s and here at the Island, we want to take a moment of silence to appreciate the life and times of New England’s tallest and oldest elm.

…..

Ok, that was enough silence.

Eff U, Elm Bark Beetle!

So here’s to Herbie! Ent’s everywhere are in mourning.
